Mold Assessment - Amherst, OH
We received a call from a car dealership. In one of their long abandoned, former office buildings, the hot water heater had met its maker. They suspected it broke on a Friday and discovered it the following Monday but had not occupied the building in approximately 10 years.
When we arrived on site, it was apparent that their time line might have been off by a little bit. A restoration company had already been on site and placed dehumidifiers and air circulation units. However, EVERYTHING was wet in half of the building.
We moisture mapped the entire building, locating wet drywall and paneling throughout. Walls were wet from 2 feet up to 8 feet in some spots. We collected samples to test for asbestos prior to the beginning of any demolition and air and tape samples to quantify and identify the mold in the building. Mold had already taken hold in a few of the rooms including an active computer server room. We warned the manager that if something wasn't done soon, the warmer temperatures would allow the mold to overrun the entire space. We will probably be tearing out the wet drywall in the next couple of weeks.
